Our Mission

An entrepreneur, James forged his career in insurance, healthcare, and technology.

In his career spanning over three decades, James has built numerous insurance and technology companies including:  Salty Dot, Inc., acquired by CDK Global in 2021, Insurance Point, acquired by Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. in July 2015, Ebenefits.com, acquired by UPMC 2007.

James is dedicated to lifelong learning. He served as the Executive Director of the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School’s Entrepreneurship Centre and continues to serve as an Associate Fellow of the school. He studied for a Master of Business Administration and a Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Oxford, and a Bachelor of Business Administration at Westminster College.

James currently serves as a Board of Director for the Connecticut Children’s Hospital, and previously served as CEO of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, where over $750 million was raised for children’s healthcare under his leadership. He has held various roles as a member of YPO and CEO.

Michael is an experienced operator with over 20 years of experience in the automotive industry. Michael most recently served as Vice-President & Partner with the Schomp Automotive Group. During his tenure with Schomp, Michael led Corporate Services including; Advertising,
Marketing, Human Resources, Accounting, Facilities, Business Development, Construction & Information Technology.

Prior to that, Michael was employed by BMW North America and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars where he served in various marketing and sales management roles.

Michael began his career at Alem International Management, a public relations and marketing agency, which specializes in developing and executing large-scale international events (the Olympic Torch Relay, Invictus Games) and automotive press and consumer launch events.

Michael is also an angel investor and consultant to early-stage companies in and adjacent to the automotive industry. He has built a wide-ranging network of professional contacts and serves as board member for YPO Pikes Peak among other regional organizations.

Andy most recently served as CFO of the insurtech company Salty Dot, Inc., from inception to sale to CDK Global in 2021.

Andy additionally brings a diversity of perspective to Embedded Insurance, Inc., with 20 years of experience in corporate finance, banking and real estate development.  

‍Andy previously served as CFO and a Managing Partner of East West Partners, a national real estate development company, and in real estate finance at The Howard Hughes Corporation, in corporate finance in Vail Resorts, and banking with CIBC World Markets.

Andy earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University.

Toby is a technologist at heart with strong business acumen. He has spent his career in engineering, technology, and product leadership roles throughout the U.S. and Europe. Toby has a passion for building and bringing new products to market that exceed customer requirements and expectations. He has an experienced history of taking new technologies and evolving them into platforms that support tens of thousands of users in production.Toby brings a twenty-year track record to Embedded Insurance having served as CPO, CTO, solutions architect, and various engineering roles. Toby most recently served as CPO of the insurtech company Salty Dot, Inc. and took the product from proof of concept to highly scalable market leader before it was acquired by CDK Global in 2021.Previously at Atlantis Computing which was acquired by HiveIO, Toby served as Chief Product Officer and was a vital member of the executive team, owning technical-facing aspects of customer engagement from Product Strategy and Management to Implementation and Support, assessing technology solutions, and integrating acquisitions. He has broad experience selling and implementing solutions across Virtualization, Grid Compute, and Edge environments.Toby holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Loughborough University in the UK.

Adrian has 18 years of experience in insurance startups, having served most recently as Secretary and VP of Accounting at Salty Dot, Inc. (acquired by CDK Global in 2021, a $6 billion dollar Dealer Management System (DMS) software company at that time). 

Prior to that, Adrian was Senior VP of Accounting & Underwriting at Insurance Point, where she underwrote a $100M block of hospital insurance, which ran at 76% loss ratio.  Adrian has also previously worked as CFO for National Benefits Partner, and AVIAA LLC. 

At Embedded Insurance, Inc., in addition to developing strategy, maintaining and developing human resource policies and records, Adrian is responsible for all company insurance licenses, business filings, company bonds, and insurance policies. Having begun her career as an accountant, Adrian also oversees accounting and financial reporting functions,  methods and policies, and is responsible for cap table, budgeting, and cash flow management. 

Adrian holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Utah, and is currently studying for her MBA.

Ed has enjoyed a long career founding and building successful insurance businesses, including  Salty Dot, Inc., (acquired by CDK Global in 2021, a $6 billion dollar Dealer Management System (DMS) software company at that time).

Before that, Ed co-founded Insurance Point (acquired by  Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. in 2015)  which provides insurance benefits to healthcare employees at hundreds of hospitals across the United States. 

Ed was also the Co-Founder of Foodbuy (acquired by Compass Group in 2010) which provides data analytics and group buying services to commercial and institutional food companies. 

Ed currently serves as a Board Member for Quigley Eye Specialists, New Harbor Capital, and the Dean's Advisory Board at the University of Kansas School of Business   He is an active angel investor and a founding member of Mid-America Angels, an angel investor network focused on advising entrepreneurs and providing seed capital to early stage companies.

Ed received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Kansas.
